Seasons of the Soul

be free, be creative & be a dreamer

STARING INTO DARKNESS

 Night has fallen swiftly

as I am sitting in my room,

wistfully staring into darkness,

overcome by gloom

The solitude of my own thoughts

is my only company

and the distant voices that I hear

seem like a long forgotten memory

Hope rests in my heart

yet doubt runs in my veins

my bravery will not depart

yet a coward I remain

In my field of dreams, filled with desire

my fear of daring will ignite a fire

it will rage, destroy and burn

until all ist lost, until there is nothing left for what to yearn

Night has fallen swiftly,

as I am sitting in my room

wistfully staring into darkness,

overcome by gloom

Because my field of dreams is gone,

so I am staring into darkness

cause my only hope is dawn

Paris

On the rooftops of Paris I will be

On the rooftops of Paris I will see

I will see the life below - the people and buildings - an indistinguishable mass of flesh and stone

On the rooftops of Paris I will dwell

On the rooftops of Paris I will smell

I will smell the life below - sweat and the salty tears - hovering over the city like an invisible veil

From the rooftops of Paris I will peer

From the rooftops of Paris I will hear

I will hear the life below - the hustle and bustle, the laughter the noise - like a song singing to me

On the rooftops of Paris I will kneel

On the rooftops of Paris I will feel

I will feel the life below - happiness and loneliness - just for a fleeting moment until they pass, merging into the buildings to be saved for ever but never to be retrieved

On the rooftops of Paris I will stand

On the rooftops of Paris I will lend you my hand

And together we will hold still and breathe and know

That Paris will never let us go
